Horse - Spinal Manipulation

Dr. Mark A. McCann, D.C., C.A.C.- Certified Animal Chiropractor

Spinal Manipulation is a alternative, holistic approach to animal care and the health of the horses.. It is a Health Care System based on movement and symmetry, but is not a replacement for traditional veterinary medicine and surgery. Spinal manipulation offers and provides another method of care that often complements traditional veterinarian care. Used concurrently, many of your horses muscles conditions respond dramatically, and rehabilitation can take place quickly and efficiently. Spinal manipulation focuses on the correct movement of all the joints in the body, focusing mainly on the functioning of the spinal column.

Subluxated is a term used by Chiropractors, meaning that one or more of the spinal column joints are not moving properly. If your horse is suffering from this condition he may display some warning signs such as; discomfort or pain, gait compensation, posture, or refusal to perform certain tasks. Dr. Mark McCann delivers a specific "adjustment"to all the joints that are misaligned or "stuck." An adjustment is a very quick, low force, gentle thrust. The joints adjusted are determent by the animal's history, followed by an examination. This includes palpation of the spine, muscles, and extremities, as well as posture and gait analysis.*
